Security Industry Authority Approved Trainer’s Training:-
Btec
Level 3 Advanced Cert in Training & Presenting
Course overview
What is the BTEC Advanced Award in Training and Presenting?
The award is an NVQ level 3 in training and development. It has been
designed to enable the assessment of a candidates ability to design and
deliver learning programmes, monitor own performance and development and
to identify the needs of the learner.
How is the award achieved?
An NVQ is achieved by the assessment of your ability to carry out a
series of tasks (performance criteria) and to ascertain your competence
in those particular areas. During the course and for ten weeks after completion
of the course, you will be assessed on your ability to carry out the following:
Evaluate and develop own practice
Design learning programmes
Develop training sessions
Enable learning through demonstrations and instruction
Enable group learning
N.B. More information on these areas can be obtained by logging on to
www.edexcel.org.uk. Click on qualifications,
NVQ, learning and development, level 3 learning and development, candidates
guidance and log book.
How will I be assessed?
- Observation (you being observed carrying out certain tasks)
- Work Based Evidence (written work prepared by you before/during the
course and the ten week assessment period).
What do I do with the evidence I have gathered?
All evidence that you submit is collated into a portfolio. The portfolio
will be indexed and clearly marked to show which particular task it relates
to. Some of the evidence will cover more than one Unit and should be indexed
accordingly. (See Assessment Schedule)
How long does the course and the qualification take?
The course is broken down into three stages:
Pre-course preparation – minimum 30 hours
Award Level 3 instruction course – 5 days
Post-course assessment and portfolio building – up to 10 weeks
What qualifications or experience do I need to register for the award?
You will not require any qualifications, however some experience in
a training environment will be advantageous. Don’t worry too much
if you are unable to take advantage of the training experience of others
within your company, as you will be taught the essentials of being a trainer
within the 5 day course. We also offer a telephone/e-mail advisory service
to help and support you through every stage of the process.
Pre-course preparation
You will be required to carry out a certain amount of pre-course
work. This will enable us to evaluate and identify your strengths and
weaknesses at an early stage and offer a greater level of support during
the 5 day course. The pre-course work required is not difficult and a
minimum of 30 hours should be spent on the projects.
